BIO
McKENNA SHELLY
McKenna "Mickey" Shelly (any pronouns) is a versatile stage manager, photographer, and artist based in Downtown Manhattan. Growing up in the rural landscape of southeastern Pennsylvania, surrounded by nature, McKenna developed a deep appreciation for the arts. Their childhood was a creative mix of dancing, acting, singing, playing instruments, and crafting art, even if some of it was, in their words, "mostly unimpressive."
McKenna’s journey into stage management began with a bang, managing their first show, "The Play That Goes Wrong." This intense and chaotic introduction to the field sparked a passion that has only grown over the years. Their recent work includes stage managing "Mamma Mia!" where they also contributed significantly to set design and construction.
With over three years of experience in stage management and design, McKenna has worked on a variety of productions, including plays, musicals, dance performances, comedy shows, and concerts. Since relocating to New York City to advance their career and education, McKenna has taken on roles such as ASM for "Two Acts One Show," collaborating closely with directors and writers to bring "The Ashvin Show Live Live 5" to life. Their recent project, "Pluto is Listening," had them managing a multitude of props and costumes in a tight-knit team of just six members.
Passionate about creating inclusive and diverse theater, McKenna is always eager to embrace new challenges and continue learning in their field. They believe in the power of theater to be a welcoming space for everyone and are dedicated to contributing to this vision.
